Bio
Pat’s Alternative Bus Tour is the solo project by Andrew Paterson from Scottish indiepop band The Felt Tips, who has resided in the South Side of Glasgow for over 10 years. His first solo album, Virtual Virgins, was released in 2024, showcasing his melodic, witty and uncompromising songs which – you guessed it – take alternative perspectives on everyday aspects of life. The album seems to have went down well over at Sunny Govan radio in Glasgow, where just about every song had airtime in 2024 on the Local Music Spotlight show.
Now Pat (Andrew’s nickname since childhood) is ready to release his second solo album, World to Rights (released digitally on 1st March 2025 and available to download for reviewing/airplay here.) which perhaps has more raw and honest songs than Virtual Virgins. A single from the album, Join the Dots (listen below), will be released on 1st February.
The album’s title track reflects on the time we waste verbally sparring over politics and world affairs when there are perhaps more important things in life, and the rest of the album builds from there, covering issues as wide ranging as poverty and the cost of living to the trials of being a football supporter, while always putting human relationships front and central.
So join the Tour, and through laughing, crying or dancing you’ll end up on the floor in one in one way or another.

Review of ‘Join the Dots’ Feb 2025 by The Bluesbunny
““Join The Dots” is jaunty indie pop just like it used to be back in the days when wry lyrics were where it was at and Pat’s Alternative Bus Tour duly make you feel like you are listening to the soundtrack to a Bill Forsyth movie. Sweet.”
2024 review of Virtual Virgins by Rosy Overdrive.
“Paterson’s conversational, heavily-Scottish-accented vocals always find their way back to the right melodies. Where Virtual Virgins distinguishes itself is via Paterson’s knack for storytelling and character-building–these songs stretch out for longer than your typical “indie pop”, but Paterson is an engrossing narrator throughout.”
