About

Pat’s Alternative Bus Tour is my new solo project. Some people might know me better as Andrew from indiepop band The Felt Tips.

The name stems from a conversation I had years ago about how the best ‘tour’ of Glasgow would be to take one of the old circuit buses around the city. I can’t remember what number of bus it was, but I think it stopped at most of the city’s hospitals. Pat is the nickname I had at school, which some of my friends still refer to me as.

While checking the name wasn’t already in existence, I learned that there was once an actual bus tour in Australia called Pat’s Uninteresting Tour. So someone already had the same idea.

Anyway, I think the name reflects the songs, which you can hear on my debut album, Virtual Virgins.

I started Pat’s Alternative Bus Tour after I wrote a bunch of songs in early 2023 and came to the conclusion that if I didn’t do a solo project I’d never manage to record and release them any other way. It’s a lot of enjoyable work, and I squeeze music, including recording the songs at home, around my family and my full time job. So don’t expect a world tour anytime soon.
